Arepas

Ingredients

  • 2 cups Precooked Cornmeal

  • 2 teaspoons Salt

  • 2 1/2 cups Water (warm)

  • oil for pan frying

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, mix together the cornmeal, salt, and water

  2. Cut into 4 equal pieces

  3. Shape into discs, about 1/2 inch thick

  4. Fry in a skillet over medium-high heat

  5. Let cool for a few minutes

  6. With a steak knife, cut a slit into the arepa for stuffing

  7. Stuff with your choice of cheese and/or meat (shredded meat generally works the best)

  8. Eat!
