Bagels
Ingredients
2 teaspoons Active Dry Yeast
4-1/2 teaspoons Sugar
1 cup Hot Water
3-1/2 cups Flour
1-1/2 teaspoons Salt
Everything Bagel Seasoning
2 teaspoons Sesame Seeds
1-1/2 teaspoons Onion Powder
1-1/2 teaspoons Garlic Powder
1 teaspoon Salt
1/2 teaspoons Poppy Seeds
Instructions
In a small bowl, combine water, sugar, and yeast and let proof for a few minutes
In stand mixer, combine flour, salt, and yeast mixture
Kneed for about 10 minutes at a speed of 6
Add more water or flour as needed
The dough should be firm, smooth, and elastic
Let rest one hour in a lightly oiled bowl and cover with a damp towel
Once the dough has doubled in size, punch it down and let rest another 10 minutes
Divide the dough into 8 equal pieces
Roll each piece into a dough ball
Poke a hole in the middle of each ball and stretch out gently so that they start to look like bagels
Bring a large pot of water to a boil and preheat over to 425F
Boil each bagel 1.5 minutes on each side (total of 3 minutes)
Place bagels on baking sheet and sprinkle with topping
Bake for 25 minutes
Eat!
