Baguette

Ingredients

  • ~3/4 cup Warm Water - 170 grams

  • 1.5 teaspoons Yeast - 5 grams

  • 1 teaspoon Salt - 5 grams

  • 2 cups Flour - 250 grams

Instructions

  1. In a small glass, add warm water and yeast and let proof for 5 minutes

  2. Add flour and salt to the mixing bowl

  3. Add yeast mixture to the mixing bowl and kneed with dough hook at a medium speed for around 8 minutes, until the dough clears the sides of the bowl.

  4. Cover bowl and let rest for 45 minutes

  5. Reach to the bottom of the bowl and fold each side of the dough over the top of the entire piece of dough, let rise another 45 minutes

  6. Repeat step five 2 more times for a total rising time of 3 hours

  7. Fold/stretch into a baguette

  8. Cover with a damp towel and let baguette rise on a lightly floured baking sheet for 30 minutes

  9. Preheat oven to 425 degrees Fahrenheit, place an empty baking sheet on the lowest rack

  10. With a sharp knife or razor, slice 4 diagonal slits across the top of the baguette

  11. Pour 1/4 cup of water on the hot baking sheet to create steam

  12. Bake bread at for 35 minutes

  13. Let rest 20 minutes before serving

  14. Eat!
